Skills Circle

Each young person involved with Fairbridge is supported to identify the specific skills they need to develop, from within our national syllabus, and create a programme of courses that meets their individual needs.

Devised by Fairbridge Development Tutors, our courses are designed to deliver a range of key personal and social skills:

Community and recreation skills

At Fairbridge learning often comes through having fun. Challenging activities like abseiling or mountain biking teach team work and responsibility while many of our courses involve young people working as part of their local community.

Employability skills

Independent living skills

From learning to cook healthy food from scratch to sexual health and managing their own finances, we have a range of courses designed to teach young people how to stand on their own two feet.

Learning skills

Many of the young people we work with haven't completed formal education or are having trouble engaging with school. We offer courses which work on their ability to learn as well as teaching basic maths and english skills in some centres.

Spirit of Fairbridge

Fairbridge's 92 foot sailing boat Spirit of Fairbridge offers a unique experience for young people that are approaching the end of their Fairbridge journey – giving them an ideal opportunity to put the skills they have learnt with us to the test.
