As part of our work to promote Fairbridge Cymru to a wider audience we have been talking with Assembly Members, Most recently we were visited by Andrew Davies AM for Swansea West. Following a tour of the centre and talking to staff and young people, Mr Davies was clearly impressed, and had the following to say.
“I was pleased to visit Fairbridge Cymru in Swansea recently and witness first hand the valuable work they do with disengaged young people in the city.
Fairbridge Cymru like many other third or voluntary sector organisations, seek to reach out to some of our most hard-to-reach young people, many of whom are in danger of falling, or who have already fallen into the category of being not in education, employment or training (NEETs).
It is encouraging that an organisation like Fairbridge Cymru is there to support young people who often have multiple support needs ranging from self-esteem issues to homelessness, substance misuse to self-harm and may sometimes lack family support or a safe home environment.”
