Borneo or bust

We are pleased to announce that four young people from Fairbridge Swansea have been invited to join the prestigious Raleigh International on an expedition to Borneo in February 2009. Alun, Chris, Darren and Jacob will take place in a 10 week expedition including aspects of community and conservation work. They will also get the chance to visit the Rainforests of Borneo to witness, first hand the effects of deforestation in this beautiful part of the world. None of these guys have had an easy start in life and have had many troubles along the way, but through hard work and determination they have pulled themselves up and are moving in the right direction.

They still have the not so small task of raising of about £1,200 to fund their flights and expenses (details of fundraising activities to follow), but if they throw themselves into this task the way they have thrown themselves into the Fairbridge programme they will not fail.

The Staff here at Fairbridge Swansea are absolutely delighted (and just a little envious!) for them in this chance of lifetime which we are sure they will grasp with both hands. Well done guys! You are an inspiration to us all!
