Midlothian Council

After securing funding from the Fairer Scotland Fund - Midlothian Council we will be working more formally with all agencies within Midlothian area including Careers Scotland and Social Work Centres across the area. We will be offering a dedicated development programme to young people who reside in this area where previously the service has been inaccessible due to geographical barriers. We are looking forward to building and maintaining this good working relationship with relevant partners/agencies.

Cairn Energy

It’s always a challenge to make sure people know about the great work Fairbridge does. Therefore, our Edinburgh team were delighted to be asked to make a short presentation to staff from Cairn Energy, whose offices are based in the heart of the city – in particular because, following our pitch, the staff would then cast a vote to decide how much money to donate to Fairbridge. So we pulled out all the stops and sent in two members of our fundraising team and one outreach worker from the Edinburgh centre to tell the group about how we help young people from the city’s most deprived areas.

Cairn’s staff were impressed by Fairbridge’s ability to support young people and make it possible for them to turn their lives around, and were particularly interested in the positive impact our work makes upon the local community – so much so that they decided to award us a fantastic £15,000 on the spot!

This money will go towards the cost of providing one-to-one support sessions, making a huge difference to the young people who attend the Edinburgh centre. We’re delighted that the staff at Cairn liked us so much!
