Hi folks, great to see so many of you brave the mist, fog, mud and torrential rain yesterday for training walk 3. I think we have now experienced every type of weather possible, but at least we will be prepared for whatever the Lyke Wake will throw at us! Only a few weeks to go now with the last of the training walks taking place this Sunday, the 13th June. We will meet at Clay Bank Car Park at 08:45 hours where transport will take us to the start point at Osmotherley. The route back to Clay Bank is actually the first section of the LWW – a distance of around 10 miles. Given our average walking speed, I expect this section to take us around 3.5 hours. The terrain is arguably the most challenging we will encounter on the actual walk, with some several fairly steep climbs. We will not however, be taking the “top” route between the Lord Stones cafe and Clay Bank, the route along the side of the hills is by far the more sensible!
As always, please ensure you dress appropriately - though with the different weather we have been experiencing, that could mean anything from snow shoes to sun hats – just be prepared! This is now the last group training opportunity prior to the actual walk, so please do try and join us. Anyone requiring advice, support or help with fundraising etc, please get in touch.
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday. Have a great week . . . . . .
Wayne
