Fairbridge’s Glasgow has welcomed a new group of young people thanks to BAA’s Glasgow Airport Community Trust Fund.
The 15,000 GBP funding enabled the team to reach diverse under 16 year-olds in Drumchapel who were identified by their schools as most likely to benefit from the programme. Over 70% of young people Fairbridge worked with last year achieved something positive such as returning to education, entering training or finding work.
All young people who engage with Fairbridge take part in an initial Access course, taking part in challenging activities like indoor rock climbing, abseiling, night navigation, shelter building and beach kiting.
Scott McAlpine said: “This funding provides a lifeline for young people in need of our services. Giving hope to young people with low expectations in life is a positive step for the whole community.”
