Introducing a new Fairbridge programme for Looked After and Accommodated (LAAC) young people in Glasgow...

The Big Lottery have awarded funding to the Fairbridge in Glasgow team to work with LAAC young people via our new Stepping Up Project.

We now have 30 ring fenced places per year for young people living in care, aged 14 – 18. Our key aims are:

  • To work with partner agencies, including Children’s Units across the city, to successfully engage with young people aged 14-18 who are currently in or leaving care in Glasgow and equip them with the motivation and skills they need to successfully move towards adulthood and independence.
  • To engage with young people earlier in their care plan, to provide an earlier intervention which combines one to one guidance with a range of in house training courses focused on their specific needs.
  • To provide intensive transitional support, to help young people move into education, employment or training and, where appropriate, independent living, as well as providing ongoing support to help them sustain these transitions.

Alyson Grandison is coordinating this, so please contact her if you would like to become part of this exciting new project”
