Tesco

Staff from Tesco Customer Services have recently been championing our cause. Back in the summer, we were approached by them, as they wanted to get more closely involved with the local community, and thought we were just the organisation to help them do so – and frankly, who can blame them?

Since our initial meeting, Tesco has given us much needed support, both through cash donations and in-kind gifts. They’ve provided us with some wonderful equipment for our brand new kitchen, in which we plan to run lots of exciting healthy living courses which will also give young people the skills to pursue a career in the catering industry.

But their support doesn’t stop there. They’ve been spreading the word amongst the many staff at Customer Services – one employee is now running a marathon for us, while another group are actively fundraising to buy us a new canoe trailer for our outdoor courses. In fact, it seems that the more the staff get to know Fairbridge, the more keen they become to get involved with us. In 2008, they will offer our young people training in communication skills, looking at things like telephone manner. We’re really looking forward to developing this partnership further.
