Fairbridge London celebrates its 30th Anniversary

London 30th Anniversary Event

On Monday 11th April Fairbridge London celebrated a momentous 30th birthday with an event at the posh Soho Hotel in Central London The event was hosted by the Fairbridge London committee of volunteers and attracted high-profile corporate guests with the aim to increase private sector funding for the London teams. The Kennington and Hackney centres, established in 1981 and 2005 respectively, used this celebration to showcase the impact of their work with disadvantaged young people over the last three decades.

This was embodied by a heartfelt and inspiring speech by Hackney young person, Chidinma Anekwe, who has come through the Fairbridge programme with stunning success. She said: "It's hard to explain the isolation and depression I felt when I first came to this country almost two years ago, but having had this Fairbridge experience I've been able to live the dreams I never thought would happen. Now I'm studying Maths and Economics at Birkbeck college!".

The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the guests, many of whom have pledged to support both London teams in the future.

Following Fairbridge's recent merge with The Prince's Trust, the event was also a celebration of the new combined organisation and has marked the start of a bright future with aims to work with 50,000 young people across the UK in the coming year.
