Referral case study

“Early Break works with young people aged under 19 years in Bury and Rochdale and under 12 in East Lancashire who experience issues around drug and alcohol. Early Break has developed a strong working relationship with Fairbridge both in Bury and Rochdale. Over the years Early Break has referred a number of young people to Fairbridge in order to give them the opportunity to develop their personal and social skills. Fairbridge provides a great environment for our young people to increase their motivation, confidence and self-esteem, something that can be lacking in the young people we work with who are suffering from substance related issues.

More recently, Early Break has supported the work Fairbridge does by delivering alternative therapy sessions, staff training and speaking at the Young People’s Forums in order to raise awareness of drug and alcohol issues. We look forward to continuing to work with Fairbridge in the future by further developing our partnership approach thereby actively supporting young people from Bury & Rochdale.”

Shakila Akram, Team Leader, Early Break

“As a teacher working with looked after children, I am always searching for opportunities to develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem. I have been really impressed by Fairbridge, both in terms of the courses and activities it offers, and by the care, commitment and enthusiasm of the staff.

The recent four week Access course, attended by one of my students, has had a noticeable impact on her confidence, behavior and social skills, and her personal development throughout the course has been noticed and commented on by all those involved in her care.

Most importantly, she really enjoyed her Access course and I would like you and your team to know how much I appreciate your hard work and wonderful attitude to Jade. Thank you so much. It means a lot.”
