Fairbridge in Scotland was established as a separately registered Scottish Charity within the Faibridge group of charities in 1989, we have over 20 years of experience working with young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage – helping them develop the self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives. The young people often face multiple issues, ranging from school exclusion and homelessness to anti-social behaviour, crime and substance misuse. They often lack family support and exist on the margins of society.
We engage young people by offering them a unique combination of opportunity and support - opportunity in the form of a wide range of challenging and structured courses and projects. Support in the form of a tailor-made action plan for each young person. And we do this in a safe environment that addresses challenging behaviour and recognises achievement.
Fairbridge in Scotland works with government, local authorities and other agencies to make progress in a range of key policy areas and we are increasingly regarded as a key stakeholder in terms of helping to reach young people who are not in education, training or employment. Each year over 650 young people choose to come to us. For many we are their first step back into mainstream society.
