There are many ways for companies to either sponsor or form partnerships with Fairbridge. The benefits include branding, hospitality events, days sail, staff training and many more. Sponsoring a course or some of our equipment are just a couple of ways to get involved...

Sponsor a course
Inspired by their first voyage on Spirit, many young people wish to gain further experience by completing a week long follow on-course. Many return to work on their Royal Yachting Association Competent Crew Certificate, often the first qualification they have ever gained.

Why not sponsor a week long course for 12 young people. In return your organization will have the opportunity to use Spirit for hospitality or a day sail. You may want to attend the certificate presentation for young people or receive a report on the outcome for the young people involved.

Cost £5,000 - £7,000.

Sponsor our Equipment
Spirit requires a high level of upkeep. As a sail-training vessel safety is paramount and we need to maintain the vessel to the highest level.

Why not help us by sponsoring essential equipment, materials or pay for the annual servicing during refit. In return your organization may wish to brand the equipment purchased or serviced. Typical costs are listed below however for up to date requirement please contact Craig Wilson.

Some typical annual maintenance costs:

  • Paint & Varnish – Spirit needs continual maintenance including varnishing & oiling all the bright work (wooden rails, hatches etc.) as well as general painting. - £1500.
  • Engine & Generator spares – both the engine & generator need regular servicing. Annual cost of spare parts including filters, anodes, pump impellers, etc. - £500.
  • Rigging – the wires that hold our masts up require replacement from time to time as do the ropes that haul the sails up & down. We plan to replace at lease four of these this year. Each stay costs around £175. Annual cost - £1500.

Chart corrections & replacement. The Charts (maps used to navigate Spirit must be kept up to date. We pay for a correction service which typically costs £50/month as well as replacing around 20 charts annually. Total cost - £1000.
