So what are you – a local company, a potential volunteer or maybe someone interested in becoming a committee member? There’s every chance that your local Fairbridge centre needs you.
There is so much going on at Fairbridge – so why not get involved. Your support will make a big difference!
In partnership with Accenture, DCS Training have delivered Neet-level training to many young people in Newcastle through their six year partnership with Job Centre Plus. We provide young people with joining, bricklaying and plastering skills so that they are able to get sustained employment. Last September we ran a two-week session that gave Fairbridge young people the opportunity to learn basic plastering, painting and building skills. In the second week the young people spent their time putting their newfound skills into practice - painting the foyer of a local homeless hostel, concreting a local church and doing odd jobs for an Age Concern home. We plan to run another session in January though this time the group will spend two weeks training and acquire basic building qualifications. The young people will also find out about what options are available to them – where they can get more training and what courses and apprenticeships are available.
